Isaac's Story

Isaac had always felt a deep connection to his Jewish faith, and he had happily passed this love for Judaism to his children. When his eldest daughter, Rachel, announced she was getting married, he knew that he wanted to do something special for her on the big day.

One of the most important traditions of a Jewish wedding is the recitation of the seven blessings, or Sheva Brachot, which are recited under the chupah. Isaac decided that as a surprise, he would recite one of these blessings in the Hebrew language at the wedding.

But there was one problem – Isaac had not read Hebrew reading since his Bar Mitzvah, and he was worried that he wouldn’t do the beautiful blessing justice.

Fortunately, a friend pointed him to The Read Hebrew Prep School as a learning option that would easily fit into Isaac’s busy schedule. Determined to start right away, Isaac signed up for the course, and spent a few hours each week taking the lessons and self assessments – and even practicing in his free moments. His wife, who wasn’t aware of Isaac’s plan, once remarked that he seemed to be talking to himself a lot more lately!

Finally, the day of the wedding arrived. Isaac stood nervously under the chupah with his daughter and her fiancé, holding the ancient Hebrew text in his hands. He took a deep breath and began to recite the blessing.

Isaac's family watched in awe as he flawlessly read the blessing. His voice was clear and confident, and his pronunciation was perfect. Everyone in the room could see the effort and dedication he had put into preparing for this moment.

When Isaac finished, there was a moment of lovely silence as his family and friends took in the depth of emotion that had just been expressed. And then, one by one, the guests began to applaud. Isaac's daughter and her fiancé embraced him tightly, with tears in their eyes.

For Isaac, it was one of the most precious moments of his life. His accomplishment allowed him to share his love for his daughter and his passion for his Jewish heritage. And for his family and friends, the moment was a beautiful testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and love for family and tradition.
